Sample Language

For an unrestricted gift that allows the University of Colorado to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, use the following language for your will and/or trust:

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the University of Colorado Foundation, a Colorado nonprofit corporation currently located at 1800 Grant Street, Suite 725, Denver, CO 80203, or its successor thereto, _________ [insert dollar amount, percentage of estate or exact description of property to be devised] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose."

To designate your provision for a particular purpose:

"I give, devise, and bequeath, to the University of Colorado Foundation, a Colorado nonprofit corporation currently located at 1800 Grant Street, Suite 725, Denver, CO 80203, or its successor thereto, _________ [insert dollar amount, percentage of estate or exact description of property to be devised] for the benefit of the (specific program, college, or school) at the University of Colorado."

If you would like to further specify the use of your gift (including the creation of a permanently designated named endowment), we would like the opportunity to work with you on a formal agreement that will ensure your desires are honored when the gift comes to the university.

If you have named the University of Colorado in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will enable us to plan for the use of your future gift. However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we will keep your name and gift in strict confidence.
