For the Future of Medicine

Donald A. Bennallack, MD., (Pre-Med '47 and MD '50) practiced medicine in obstetrics and gynecology for over 40 years. Inspired by today’s medical students and concerned by the level of debt most incur for their schooling, he chose to donate his estate to CU.

86% of medical students require financial aid to complete their degree, and the average student debt for medical school graduates is over $200,000.

The Donald A. Bennallack, MD Scholarship Endowment aims to alleviate some of this burden by providing scholarships to students in the College of Medicine. CU is proud to offer a robust scholarship program for its students, awarding over $5 million in aid during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Dr. Bennallack, and other generous individuals like him, believed cost should never be a barrier to a high-quality education.

If you, like Dr. Bennallack, believe the best and brightest students should have access to the education they need to achieve their dreams, consider using a gift in your will or estate plan to offer this important support.

Giving in this manner can provide the flexibility to make a bigger impact than you may have thought possible. Contact the Office of Gift Planning at 303-541-1229 or giftplanning@cu.edu to learn more.

“The Donald A. Bennallack, MD Scholarship Endowment has been instrumental in advancing my medical education and research endeavors. Through its support, I will be completing a research internship under the mentorship of Professor Francesco Bussu at the University of Sassari in Italy, where I will have the opportunity to delve into my areas of interest in the field of immunology and the treatment of head and neck cancer.
The investment in my education has opened doors to unique learning experiences that would not have been possible otherwise. Scholarships such as this play a vital role in supporting future physicians and healthcare providers, and I am grateful to the donors for their generosity and dedication to this cause.”
